Things to do in Hathersage

The village has dozens of excellent upland and lowland walks starting right on the doorstep and enjoys a reputation for being an ideal base for walking, orienteering, rambling, climbing and abseiling. There is also a gliding club at the nearby village of Abney. Caving and potholing are activities based at nearby Castleton.

Cycling round the dams

Ladybower and the Derwent Valley is a popular area for visitors. This is a favourite place for cyclists and mountain bikers. (Bike hire available).

The Secret Playground

The Secret Playground is situated in the park backing on to the property, and the open air swimming pool - just a few minutes walk away - is open daily from the end of March to September giving the opportunity to swim in the open air, amidst the glorious Peak

The David Mellor Cutlery Factory is known to be a masterpiece of modern architecture. The shop beside the factory sells a wide range of cutlery and kitchenware and is open seven days a week. The working factory may be visited during the week.
